Armed and Barefoot

Just a quick post to say, "Don't mess with our chickens!  You will lose!"

This is sort of a continuation post of our date night but worthy of it's own title :)

Kevin and Lydia got home before us.  Maybe that's because Noah and I stopped at our favorite ice-cream spot.  That deserves a post all it's own.  I will just say to all my fellow Blue Bell fans, "There is a better ice-cream!"  I know, I know, I can't believe I just said that but I speak the truth!!!!!  Anyway, back to the story.

Noah and I pulled up to the house as Kevin walks out, changed from his date clothes with a shotgun slung over his shoulder.  Anxious to hear what was happening, Noah and I quickly exited the van and said, "What happened?  Did you shoot something?"  Kevin told us as him and Lydia were putting up the chickens, he saw a set of eyes down the driveway.  It was a fox!! He went in to get the gun and when he came back outside, the fox had actually moved closer to our coop.  Bad move!!!  As Kevin approached, the fox scurried into the edge of the woods.  Barefooted, holding the spotlight with one hand and the shotgun with the other, Kevin went after it.  When he saw the eyes in the spotlight, he just shot towards them.  The fox ran.  When we pulled up, Kevin was on his way out to take one last look.  Noah went with him.  When they returned, they had a trophy in hand.  The shot had been successful after all.  Like I said, "Don't mess with our Chickens!"

Loser!!!

  1. Poor fox....he was just doing what foxes do!! They are such pretty creatures. There was a fox family on the compound in Portsmouth and they would sometimes lay out in the sun in our back yard. They kept the rats at bay so sometimes it's good to have a fox around. 8^)

This is picky but I just cannot help myself. The misuse of the word 'loose' for 'lose' drives me crazy....so here you go....you have loose where it should say lose and looser where it should say loser. Forgive me please!!

I know you guys are having fun in your new digs. We are pretty much settled in and I have even mowed grass twice now. First time mowing grass since we left Hawaii in 2007! The grim realities of leaving privatized base housing. Sigh.

    Take care of those chickies!

  2. Geraldine,
I have no idea what you are talking about. Lol! Wink, wink. Between you and Kevin, maybe I will make an "A" in spelling before I am in my grave :)
