Summing up the week ....

It has been quite the busy week here on the farm.  Kevin has been gone all week.  Thank goodness we get to pick him up from the metro this afternoon.  What a welcome sight he will be.  The kids and I really miss him when he is away!

Before departing for the west coast on Monday, Kevin was able to get our little garden planted.  That really put the pressure on the kids and I to get the fencing up because the chickens love the fresh tilled soil, earth worms, and of course the prized seeds :)  It took us a couple afternoons but we finally got it completed.  I must say, "It doesn't look to shabby for a threesome.  I think it will serve it's purpose well.  Hopefully, dad (Kevin) will be very pleased when he sees it later today, along with all the new plants coming up :)

Garden is now enclosed!
Complete with gate :)

Tomato plants

Peas
We also have some green beans, lettuce, and cucumbers popping up.  Can't wait for the bounty!!!

The kids and I did some organizing in our shed yesterday in hopes of finding some lost treasures.  Thanks to our "wonderful" packers in San Antonio, we have been unable to locate our power supply to our big TV (not missing it that much though), the glass tray for the microwave, and certain school supply items :(  Really guys, couldn't you have packed the items with like items ???  Need I say, "This was the worst pack job ever!!!".  We are just gonna keep looking, looking, looking :)

The kids and I also found some time to do a bit of exploring around our new community this week.  We discovered a beautiful, new library just a couple of miles from our farm.  Score!!  That is going to be so awesome for school projects and free entertainment.  I talked the kids into getting an audio book.  They weren't very thrilled at first but now I think they are hooked.  It's kind of nice to hear them say, "Mom, hurry up, start the book!", instead of bickering over who's turn it is to choose a movie in the van.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend making memories with their loved ones. I know we will!!!  Six hours and counting until our family is all back together :)))

PS... Follow our broiler adventure.  It now has it's own page, which you can access from the top.
