Let the Garden Preparations Begin

Well it is a bit muggy this morning, yet there is work to be done on the farm. Our schedule today will be upside down.  We will be working outdoors this morning and having school this afternoon during the heat of the day.  One of the joys of homeschooling.  Flexibility is a fine asset to have.

Kevin and Noah got a new toy this week, a really nice rear tine tiller.  I am not sure who likes it most at this point.  They have already tilled up a nice garden area and of course they needed a food plot to draw in the venison.  It's a little late in the season up here but there are a few things we can still plant in our garden.  For the most part, we will be prepping for the fall crop.  Today, the kids and I are fencing the garden area to keep our plants safe from the chickens, among other critters. Noah also needs to do a few repairs on our irrigation system. If time allows, we will begin raising the fencing around the chicken area to fox proof it for those days when we want to keep the chickens pinned up.

On a different note, we met Kevin and had lunch in the Pentagon yesterday because Noah and I needed new ID cards.  That was macarena cool!  I must say, I got goose bumps as we walked the corridors thinking about what happened there on 9/11.  It was so cool looking at all of the history from our nation's past and present.  It really is like a museum in there.  The security is unbelievable, as it should be!  I can't wait to take the kids back.
