Whoo, it's already Thursday? Oh my, I think time really does fly!
Monday was a Cinderella kind of clean day. I don't think the kids and I visited the outdoors until late afternoon. My knees are still protesting. I have to admit though, there is definitely a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the evening as you walk thru a clean house. It's like, "No, I can't cook dinner. My kitchen is spotless. NOOOO! Wait, don't go in there. Go find a tree!" Get my drift? At least let me enjoy the fruits of our labor until morning. Lol!

Because Papa Roo has some use it or loose it days of leave built up, he took Tuesday off. Boy did that mess with our heads. I kept thinking it was Saturday and was in a panic because things I needed to have done weren't done. The kids kept asking, "What day is it?" and "When is Grandma getting here?" There was so much to do. This day was an all day outside, (get er done) kind of day. We staked the cucumber plants, put string up for our peas and beans, and did a bit of weeding. We gave the chicken coop a good cleaning and gave our broilers some fresh bedding. Oh, and we can't forget the mowing. There is still mowing to do. All in all, this was a successful and very productive day :)

Wednesday, we had a few last minute things to do before we headed to Reagan National to pick up Grandma. Strategically planning her flights, little did she know we would be bringing her to our place metro style, at least part way. We drove to the nearest station from our house, hopped on the metro and headed to the airport. We got there a bit early so the kids and I had some lunch at TGI Friday's inside the airport while we waited on her flight. Before we finished our meal, the phone rang and it was GRANDMA! Oh wow, the flight was early. We got a couple of doggy bags and rushed down the corridor to meet her. We waited and waited and waited. No Grandma. Finally, I called her back and she says,"Oh I am down at Baggage Claim. They brought me down the elevator the back way." Off we went, down the escalator and to carousel three. Yay, we found her! Once we retrieved her luggage, we were off to the metro. The assistant wheeled her all the way to the escalator where you board the metro. Now that was front door service! First time for Grandma to ride on a metro in the USA. Ironically she has rode them in Germany and Japan. It was so funny! Lydia said, "They need seat belts on here for old people". Grandma kept sliding on the seats. Lol!

This is gonna be fun Grandma :) |
Once we got to the car, we headed out to the dreaded I95 with the intent of getting on the HOV lanes. Don't ask how I missed the entrance but I did. Oh boy, here we go. Well I guess Grandma would get to experience our traffic up here as well. About an hour and a half later, we arrived back at the Quad L Farm. The kids were super excited to show Grandma all that we had done on the place since we moved here almost three months ago. Driving up, of course she couldn't help but see all the chickens and Papa Roos' beautiful garden. Once in the house the kids were anxious to give her a tour. That didn't take long. Lol! Remember, we downsized considerably. Then it was back outdoors for Noah to show off his archery skills and Lydia had to personally introduce Grandma to all her feathered friends :) And of course we had to show her all the little touches we made around the yard to make it more "us".

Finally, time for dinner. We made spaghetti and of course we had to use some of our fresh sauce that we canned last week. That was a hit. No leftovers!!!
It's gonna be a fun week! We still have a party to throw this weekend. Momma Hen is turning in!!!! Good night all. Sweet dreams and don't let the bed bug bites!
PS...There is a 6 week broiler update on the Broiler Adventure page
